Best of the best, August 18, 2004
Reviewer: S. Walden
I suggested to Leatherman awhile back (among others I'm
sure) the new cutting hook available on the Charge XTI,
they listened apparently. This tool was smooth working out
of the box. The cutting hook will be used by me in EMS
work cutting seat belts and clothing. I'm sure it would
work on gutting animals such as deer, etc if you hunt. The
tools lock well, the bit sockets lock and unlock
positively with an unobtrusive integrated pushbutton. You
can carry the tool in the included sheath open or folded.
I carry it folded because I use the outside tools more
often. Your situation may be completely different but
that's where the beauty lies. It's so versatile. The
angles of the tools make them easier to work with than
many generic models. There is a definite quality
difference between some of the generic look-a-likes. Go
ahead, spend the money. You can't go wrong with the
quality. This is one of the Leatherman tools you'll want
to carry everywhere you go. This works well in the office
too, computers, etc.

Possible replacement to old Wave, May 21, 2005
Reviewer: V. Calvin Hoe
I have been attached to my Wave since it first came out. I
have a miniMaglite and Wave sheath that never left my side
except on airplane flights. With the multi bit kit, I'll
probable not need my tool caddy as much.
The Charge Ti nylon sheath has four pockets; an inside
pocket that holds the bit carrier just behind the Charge
XTi tool AND on each side, a expanding pocket that can
hold a AAA mini Maglight and sharpie marker pen. It's a
little more compact then the Wave sheath with the AA
miniMaglite.
I received my Charge XTi with a leather sheath and
exchanged it for the nylon sheath for the above reasons.
The leather WILL conform to the tool's shape if you soak
it in water and let the leather dry around the tool; it
literally molds the leather to the tool. (I preferred the
velcro nylon sheath.)
The AAA miniMaglite is great and if converted to a LED
bulb (costing about $20), it will literally outlast the
miniMaglight itself. Benefits are that the batteries last
longer (less current draw) and brighter (current boost
technology of LED bulbs).
Hope this helps.

Not as good as i thought, January 28, 2006
Reviewer: John Labu
Not after 1/2 month i use this tool the philips bit become
deteriorated. The are also misaligmnent on some of the
blades. One of the lock are pretty hard to be unlock. It
sometimes hurt my thumb to unlock it.
Others look great. But i think with current quality it not
worth the money paid for this multi-tool. Although it's
under warranty but u must spend more money to send it to
be repaired/replaced. This also will waste our precious
time.
My advice if you have other option, go for it.

A great tool with many uses, December 31, 2005
Reviewer: Brent Hochstetler
I previously had a Leatherman Wave, but the nose of the
pliers broke. I bought the Charge XTI as a replacement,
and it has performed admirably.
I use this tool every day in a variety of applications.
The tools are great, The nose of the pliers are stronger
than the wave, the bits lock in place, and the nylon pouch
holds the spare bits conveniently.
I am very happy with this tool, another triumph by
Leatherman!

This tool hurts my hand., November 21, 2005
Reviewer: Nic Park
This tool hurts my hand when I use it. I purchased one to
compare with my Gerber. That was a mistake. I thought
about "Regifting" this tool but I could not do that to
someone I know. Buy the Gerber MP800 if you need a
Multiplier

The Leatherman Charge XTi is a very useful tool and has a
cool design. It's a little bit expensive but for people
like me that like tools very much, it worth every penny.
