First Drill Tool and What a Drill, February 21, 2006
Reviewer: Haw-ran Tu
This drill is pleasure to use. It's powerful yet very maneuverable due to
it's compact size and light weight. It's perfect for small
to medium sized home projects. I considered a 18V drill
first but realized 18V was just too big and heavy for my
home projects. The batteries take less than an hour to
fully charge and last very long for light duty work. I've
installed 4 curtains, two towel bars, one towel ring, and
one table over one month span with one charge and it's
still going. I've yet to use the second battery. Granted,
I haven't done any heavy duty work, but the battery life
still impresses me.
I consider this drill money well spent and must have in
your home.

The best all around drill by a mile , February 17, 2006
Reviewer: J. Mccutcheon "KMAC"
This drill is perfectly balanced weight, size and power. If you are
looking for a drill to do it all and not make your arm
fall off by the end of the day this is the one for you.
The high points of this drill are the battery life and
warranty (2 year replacement). The low weight(4.2lbs) and
compact size. The chuck is one of the best I have ever
used. The trigger controll on this drill is very percise
and tight. I can't say enough about the great job Bosch
did with this fine power tool.

Initial Review Only, January 21, 2006

I have not yet used this drill, so if you're looking for an in-depth
review on how this drill operates this isn't it. When my
cordless Craftsman drill batteries finally gave up, after
a surprisingly long time, I started looking for a
replacement. If I did not already own a 1/2" chuck, high
voltage drill I would have bought the Panasonic 15.6 volt
model. Based on reviews on Amazon, on other sites, and on
various magazine test reviews that drill appears to be a
no-brainer. However, I was looking for a smaller, 3/8"
chuck replacement model that was less expensive than the
Panasonic. If you've looked at the offerings in this
category you could become as overwhelmed as I was. So, for
me at least, the choice came down to some factors that
might not apply to other folks. I own, and have used quite
extensively, other Bosch products including a table saw,
router, and sliding compound miter saw. I've been very
pleased with all of those products, so brand loyalty
played a part in my decision. I've also been at trade
shows where the Bosch people drop their drills onto a
concrete surface and the drills seem to keep working in
spite of that abuse. Of course, for all I know, the DeWalt
people could drop their drills from a ten story bulding
and they might still work. But that fact, along with a 3
year warranty on this drill and a 2 year battery
replacement warranty, provides a certain level of
confidence in this product. One specific fact about this
drill is that it does have a setting on the chuck that
locks up the clutch and allows for higher speed screwing.
Makita makes a big deal about that feature on their
drills, but Bosch doesn't emphasize that their drills have
it. I feel very confident that this drill will last even
longer than my Craftsman did, and that it will perform
better for it's purpose. Since I had a $25.00 Amazon
coupon, I was able to get this drill for $133.00. At that
price, I think I made the right choice.
